Wyoming Peach Festival

Come by our booth and say hi!!! August 4th, a Saturday from 9-3!

Welcome_to_Wyoming

Open letter from us

Dear Fellow Delawarean,

Think you can’t do anything to stop this interminable Iraq war? You can!

Momentum is building in both the U.S. Senate and the House to implement the December 2006 recommendations of the of the Iraq Study Group – a bipartisan plan that stresses regional diplomacy over military action as a more effective means of stabilizing Iraq and paving the way for withdrawal of US combat troops.

Mike Castle, our U.S. Congressman, is leading this effort in the House as a co-sponsor of H.R. 2574 – the Iraq Study Group Implementation Act. His co-sponsors include 29 Republicans and 25 Democrats so far – a solid and growing core of bipartisan support for a swift and equitable end of the war. (To learn more, visit www.GovTract.us and type in H.R. 2574.)

You can keep this ball rolling by thanking Representative Castle for his co-sponsorship of this bill and urging him to keep it alive. Simply write a short letter in your own hand and in your own words saying this. Be sure to sign your letter and include your address so he knows you’re a constituent. Sample letters are attached. And then ask friends and family members to write letters, too.

Picnic for Peace will be your delivery service. Our goal is to place at least 100 letters directly in Mike Castle’s hands during the August Congressional recess to underscore the urgency and sincerity of our collective message and to let him know that constituents such as you want an end to this war. Simply call 674-5042 or send an email to bfrazier@dol.net and we’ll arrange to pick up your letters. (Or if you’d prefer to contact Representative Castle on your own, visit his web site (www.house.gov/castle) for his contact information.)

Let your voice be heard – it really does count!

Sincerely,

Picnic for Peace

P.S. Many of us were disappointed when Congressman Castle voted against H.R. 2956, the Responsible Redeployment from Iraq Act, which set an April 2008 deadline for withdrawal of combat troops. The Iraq Study Group Implementation Act suggests but does not require a similar timetable. Because it has stronger bipartisan support, however, the Iraq Study Group Implementation Act may have a greater chance of successful passage.
